Im Mai 2018 zeigte Lena Braun eine große Collage in Kombodscha in einer vom Goethe Institut geförderte Aussellung zu Karl Marx. 

“MARX STILL MATTERS: THE POOR, THE RICH AND THE BICENTENARY OF THE FATHER OF COMMUNISM” - On the occasion of Karl Marx’ 200th birthday, Meta House in Kambodscha invites you to the opening of group show, curated by German artist Ernst Altmann.

Karl Marx (1818–1883) is best known not as a philosopher but as a revolutionary, whose works inspired the foundation of many communist regimes in the 20th century, including Pol Pot and the Khmer Rouge. 

Marx’ criticisms of capitalism remain largely valid more than 100 years after they were written. One of his strong arguments against this economic system is about the inevitability of inequality. Please be our guests to find out how local and foreign artists perceive his teachings and legacy and how this is reflected in a Cambodian context. 

The show includes works by Mil Chankrim, Chea Kor, Sous Sodavy, Rath Soly, Saen Samnang, Choun Sopheap, Chhim Sothy - all from Cambodia -, as well as the international artists Ernst Altmann, Lena Braun, Nick Gray, Alex Pettiford, Bjela Proßowsky, Janelle Retka and Julien Sellon.
